BIOCIDAL PRODUCT AUTHORISATION AND CHOOSING THE RIGHT PRODUCT

AUTHORISED PRODUCT
WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Products marketed in Türkiye as mosquito and tick repellents fall within the scope of biocidal products and must have the relevant authorisation / permit record from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health.

When choosing a mosquito or tick repellent, check the product’s biocidal authorisation information, rather than relying only on the claims on the front of the pack.

CHECK THE AUTHORISATION BEFORE THE CLAIM.

COSMETIC PRODUCT

A cosmetic product may have its own intended use and safety requirements.

This does not replace biocidal product authorisation for a mosquito / tick repellent claim.

Terms such as “natural”, “plant-based”, “organic” or “body spray” do not indicate that a product is authorised as a biocidal mosquito / tick repellent.

WHAT IS BEHIND THE AUTHORISATION?

Authorisation is more than a number; it is the result of scientific and official assessment.

01

ACTIVE INGREDIENT

The active ingredient is assessed for its effect on the target pest and its properties in relation to humans, animals and the environment.

02

FINISHED PRODUCT

The product itself is assessed for efficacy against the target pest, stability, method of use and safety.

03

AUTHORISED USE

The authorisation and label specify which pests the product may be used against, how it may be used and under which conditions.

Do not decide based only on the front of the pack. Check readable photographs of the back label and any fold-out inner labels. If authorisation or usage information is not visible, ask the seller for label images showing this information.
